 Second Leads That Still Hurt

My previous Post (Following Kim Seon Ho) on Kim Seon Ho, for whom many a people watching Start Up again fell into the deep cycle of rooting for the Second Lead, led me to think about how some Drama’s with Second Lead Tracks still continue to hurt us.

Today is a post dedicated to those Second Lead, who were definitely a Lead in my Heart

Yoon Ji Hoo ---- Boys Over Flowers

The beginning of the Second Lead Syndrome for me. One of the most iconic character from the infamous Boys Over Flowers, popularly known as Sunbae was the best Second Lead. Always being the supportive friend to the F4 and to the female lead, his character, gestures, and sweet moments made me root for him even more.

Kim Jung Hwan ---- Reply 1988

Another name that his quite known in the world of Second Lead’s was Jung Hwan. From the starting itself for a moment I could not have imagined someone else would ever get Deok Seon’s heart, and his opponent being Taek ah, made the situation worse. Neither one of them getting hurt seemed like a good choice for me. It broke my heart when Deok Seon made her choice.

Chil Bong Yi ---- Reply 1994

In a strange set of events, I watched Reply 1994 after being hurt by Reply 1994. Just because of fans mentioning Chil Bong Yi’s name in the comments throughout the Reply 1988 episodes; “There can’t be another Chil Bong Yi”. So by the time I got to watching Reply 1994, I already knew his fate, but the hurt and sadness Chil Bong Yi ---- Reply 1994

Baek In Ho ---- Cheese In The Trap

The happy vibed neighborhood friend Baek In Ho had to be the second lead. It was quite evident from their introduction only. But with the moments he had with Seol ah, doesn’t make this time also any easy.

Yoo Jin Woo ---- High School King Of Savvy

The chic, standoff ish Yoo Jin Woo was another character starting with the fate of Second Lead. I came to know about the show when I came across a YouTube scene of him and the female lead in the car, and that totally won me over. I still want him to have been the lead.

Choi Yeong Do ---- The Heirs

The mess of a show that Heirs was, Choi Yeong Do was still better than most, and far better than Kim Tan’s character. Choi Yeong Do was a bully, mean and playful, and still a 1000 times better than what Kim Tan’s obsessive character was supposed to be. Choi Yeong Do should get his separate spin off show.

Shin Se Gi ---- Kill Me Heal Me

Never had I thought, I would be facing a second lead syndrome from the same actor in the same show. Cha Do Hyun had his moments but I guess we can all agree that it was Shin Se Gi that we waited to show up. Though I understand Shin Se Gi had to leave, for Cha Do Hyun to recover, it doesn’t make it any easier. Do watch this show; if you have not till now, it takes Second Lead Syndrome to a whole other level.

Du Lei ---- Love Is Sweet

Though I had many a reasons to drop this show, but still keeping it hold for now, the second lead was one of the major factor. I have already loved Kido Gao’s acting in Flipped, but though seeing him as a second lead would not affect that much. But it did, really did, and has made me put a hold on the drama for now

So here’s to all those Second Lead who I still root for!
