4 Similarities between Black Dog and Incomplete Life (Misaeng)

The 2014 hit drama Incomplete Life (Misaeng) had touched the heart of almost all its viewers for it’s realistic and honest portrayal of an office life.  The relatable characters made us viewers root for them. The currently airing drama Black Dog though based on School backdrop has some basic similarities with Misaeng making it already a must-watch.

[Spoiler Alert]

1.     The Tone, theme:

The first notable thing is the gloomy blue and greyish tone of both the dramas. The setting makes it seem as almost a dark, depressing ordinary day. In both cases it feels like entering a puzzling world along with our protagonists who are trying to settle themselves in an unknown environment.

2.     The Driving forces:

Be it our Oh Sang Sik (Chief Oh) or Park Seong Soon Teacher they are the ones who immediately bring along a burst of excitement with their arrival. The workaholics, who are trying to do their best, while protecting their team and abiding by principles, are the major driving forces. They may seem indifferent and rough on the outside but are leading the team with effort and charisma and a warm heart. All credit to Lee Sung Min and Ra Mi Ran the powerhouse actors.

3.     The Protagonists:

Jang Gue Re a shy honest character had been suddenly thrust into the Corporate World, with no prior experiences the new place seemed daunting and difficult. Go Ha Neul dreams of being a teacher and excited to have been finally selected faces a different School environment than she had imagined it to be. Both of them use their skill and personality to start adjusting and making their place step by step. Underdogs at first glance, their approachable personality and hard work is relatable and makes us viewers root for them.

4.     The Relationships:

The gruff chiefs see the potential in the new recruits and starts mentoring them, scolding when wrong encouraging when down the Chiefs-Newbies forms the best fighting duo. Also the newbies looks up to them with respect and admiration.

Also special shout out to Kim Dong Shik (Misaeng) and Bae Myung Soo (Black Dog) the most trusted partners of the chiefs. The ones always standing up against the chief but fiercely loyal maybe bickering all the time but without them neither the Chief nor the team can function.

A timeless favorite Misaeng (Check it out now, if not already watched) and a to be favorite Black Dog (Quickly catch up) amidst a few similarities both dramas have different plots, backdrop and characters. Previously cheered on Sales Team 3, lets shout out for College Advisory Group this time.
