Plot:

Lee Gon is the third Korean emperor of his generation. His citizens regard him as the perfect leader. But behind this flawless appearance, hides a deep wound. When he was eight years old, his father was murdered before his eyes following a coup. Today, instead of respecting his filial duty, he prefers to escape the palace to attend university conferences. During one of his escapades, he sees himself propelled into a parallel world where he meets Jung Tae Eul, an inspector with whom he teams up with to defeat the criminals but also close the door between their two worlds.

Mini Review:

Truthfully I had very little expectation for the show but I decided to watch regardless for one of my favorite actor (Woo Do Hwan). Also as I had entered K-drama world with City Hunter, ignoring Lee Min Ho shows is also difficult for me.

For the story, it was predictable and full of drama tropes. The pace was all over the space, at time it was painfully slow (plot movement) and other times too fast (the leads love story). Also the time travel is confusing in most aspects.

Too many unnecessary characters had been introduced, as a result the characters that seemed interesting got little screen time.

The story between the leads were too fast moving, resulting in no connection or chemistry only too many long “deep” conversations between them remains. If the love story had taken it’s time to develop it would have been much better for the character buildup too.

Lee Min Ho’s character seems like a spin off version of Kim Tan (Heirs) and he needs to stop playing this same type of roles. They seem only annoying instead of charismatic. Neither the leads nor the antagonist had any impact at all.

Thankfully the rest of the cast made the show much more entertaining. I had started watching for Woo Do Hwan but ultimately ended as a fan of Kim Kyung Nam (Sung Jae) and Jung Eun Chae (Prime Minister) fans.

Ending Notes:

Give it a try if you are a fan of anyone on the cast.

Plot can get confusing and repetitive.

The Bromance and Friendships are better paced and more touching.

The supporting cast needs its own separate series; they showed a much better performance.

Final Rating: 2/5

Note: Regardless of my complains, this show kept my sister and I entertained through out this couple of months, making us look forward to something every week. Thank You in regard to that.
