Confused In Love In Dramaworld

While taking a break the previous month, to catch up with my assignments and internals, a lot of dramas were still accompanying me. And all of them were rom-com or focused on love dramas. In a previous article of mine, I have mentioned I like watching Stree Free Rom-Coms to take the stress off a bit, but the range of dramas I went through the previous month, was a strange mix of good, bad and weird.

The Good:

My Little Happiness (C-Drama)

This is one of those dramas anyone interested in the Rom-Com genre would immediately like.

A childhood friendship developing into a sweet romance

A sweet and swoony couple, plus points for making them neighbors

Both leads have separate prominent lives, other than pursuing each other

The Second couple is equally awesome; you would root for their love story along with the leads also.

The fun factor is balanced well along with the romance

Would definitely take your stress off and make it to my next stress free rom-com list recommendation.

Please Don’t Date Him (K-Drama)

Another sweet drama with bits of childhood mysteries

The female lead is really cool; the male lead is equally sweet

Would make you reflect on the excess use of mobiles and other electronic gadgets at one hand, and advantages of using them on another hand

Could have eased up a bit on the secret spy stuffs

Plus points for being a short drama (10 episodes)

The Bad:

Lovestruck In The City (K-Drama)

One of the big named drama airing this year, and one of the worst drama I have seen in a while.

A two liner story had been stretched across 17 episodes drama, only making the male lead having a no self-respect and a clingy mess with alcohol problems, the female lead just becomes plain selfish in order to find herself.

The other characters and relationships have no real impact, same with the friendship. Everything felt forced.

Could have been a better show, if made into a short drama of 4-5 episodes.

Watched only for the cast, and regretted every minute of it.

Better to rewatch Healer and Descendants of the Sun

True Beauty (K-Drama)

A mix of Boys over flowers, Heirs and Gangnam Beauty.

A compilation of all kind of typical rom-com scenarios across all dramas.

Forced second lead scenes, and friendship of male lead and second lead

The story doesn’t progress, it just many events rolling one after another.

Only saving grace is discovery of the Second Lead, Hwag In Yeop

Would recommend watching Gangnam Beauty

The weird:

Shanai Marriage Honey (J-Drama)

If you are familiar with Japanese animes, this drama pattern would seem very normal, if not its weird all over.

With no excuses for events happening and the strange behavior of the male lead and overly sweet behavior of female lead.

There are even more strange characters popping up all over the drama office setup (which would seem normal if familiar with Japanese dramas)

Would recommend Koi wa Tsuzuku Doko Made Mo as a beginner J-Drama for much better experience.

With that, my love filled drama month came to an end, looking forward to thrillers and actions in the next phase!
